Taranaki Man's 25-Year Wait to Receive his Black Belt in Martial rts | Taranaki Daily News

It's taken 25 years, but a Taranaki man has become the first in the region to have black belts in two martial arts.

Stephen Drummond was already a black belt in taekwondo when, on August 17, was finally officially awarded a black belt in hapkido.

"It's been a long road and it kind of sunk in that night, like, 'Holy cr*p I'm the only person in Taranaki that is now a dual black belt registered with the world governing bodies and the Korean government,'" he said.
