What is SunDo?
Ki (chi) or vital energy is an essential underlying factor in the health of our body, mind and emotions. Doctors and scientists are discovering that the amount of this vital energy, and its ability to flow throughout the body, has a significant effect on our health.
SunDo practice gradually unblocks the energy channels of the mind and body. This is accomplished through gentle systematic stretches, coupled with specific breathing patterns performed in special postures to stimulate healthy functioning of your internal organs. As you progress through the different levels of the practice of SunDo, your body, mind and spirit move toward a naturally harmonious balance, leading to increased vitality, enhanced peace of mind, and expanded self awareness.
SunDo can be practiced by anyone, at any fitness level. If you have severe health problems, you can benefit by practicing only the methods of breathing, without postures. As your health improves more physical aspects of the practice can be added. If you are in excellent physical condition you can also benefit through the development of a strong “Ki” center and a more harmonious flow of energy.

History
SunDo has been perfected and handed down over the last 5000 years. The art and practice of SunDo comes from Korea, where it was practiced for centuries by ancient Korean people. With the arrival of foreign influences and philosophies, some practitioners retreated to the mountains to preserve and protect the art from extinction. It has only been in the last 25 years that this practice and art has been re-introduced into Korean culture.
