Fall in New York: A Perfect Time to Begin Martial Arts Training
After a long, hot and humid New York City summer, cooler fall weather is finally approaching. For martial artists, it is one of the best times of the year to train.
Fall also represents something more: a new beginning.
September has traditionally been a time when people return from summer vacations, begin new routines, set new goals and look for positive ways to improve their lives. If you have ever thought about trying martial arts, this fall may be the perfect time to begin.
Traditional Martial Arts in the East Village of NYC
Located in the East Village of Manhattan, the International Martial Arts Center has been teaching martial arts in New York City since 1994.
Our training combines traditional ITF Taekwondo with reality-based Hapkido, giving students the opportunity to experience both the traditional discipline of martial arts and practical self-defense training.
Students learn traditional Taekwondo kicking techniques, hand techniques, forms, footwork and combinations while developing balance, coordination, flexibility and physical conditioning.
Our Hapkido training adds another dimension through practical self-defense techniques and the study of movement, distance, timing and control.
One of the things our students particularly enjoy is our combination training. Rather than practicing techniques only in isolation, students learn to connect movements together naturally—developing rhythm, fluidity, coordination and the ability to continue from one technique into another.
A Friendly Place to Learn Martial Arts
Walking into a martial arts school for the first time can feel intimidating. It shouldn’t.
At the International Martial Arts Center in New York City’s East Village, we have developed a friendly and welcoming training environment where beginners can learn alongside experienced martial artists.
You don’t have to be flexible.
You don’t have to be in great physical condition.
And you don’t need any previous martial arts experience.
You simply have to begin.
Our students come from different backgrounds and levels of experience, but they share the training floor with a common purpose: to learn, improve, challenge themselves and enjoy the martial arts.
Start Something New This Fall
There is something wonderful about beginning martial arts in the fall.
The oppressive heat of summer gives way to cooler air. Training becomes invigorating. September brings renewed energy, and the months ahead provide an opportunity to develop a consistent practice.
